A joint venture real estate company owned by S A Brain & Company Limited (Wales' largest brewer) and Mansford Holdings Plc, undertook a comprehensive redevelopment of the former Brains Brewery in prime central Cardiff.
The Old Brewery was vacated by Brains in late 1999 and was purchased by a joint venture vehicle owned by Brains and Mansford. Mansford undertook a strategic development viability and master-planning exercise, followed by detailed negotiations with the planning and licensing authorities, resulting in consent to develop an exciting mixed use scheme comprising 85,000 square feet of retail, leisure and 43 "loft style" residential apartments integrated over seven levels. Mansford co-ordinated the entire development process, including funding, letting and development management.
The development project was acquired by Mansford in September 2003 in a Limited Partnership together with S A Brain & Company Limited.
The property was sold to an institutional investor in August 2005. Mansford has a continuing participation in the property.
